A New Year’s Revolution

I’ve never made a new year’s resolution; never felt the need to.
A few years ago I resolved to live the kind of life that would require zero resolutions at the end of the year. As nice as that sounds, I was saying it more as a joke than an actual resolution.
Likewise, I’ve never sacrificed anything for Lent. Or I guess a better way of saying that is that I’ve never sacrificed anything for God during Lent. Except I gave up cokes for a week when I was in eighth grade because another friend of mine was doing it. I wonder how much that meant to God.
If you know me at all, you’ve probably heard that I’m getting married next year and if you know me well, you’re probably getting sick of hearing about it. Either way, I’m getting married and because of that I want to be the best person I can be. Not just because I’m getting married but because I want to continue preparing myself for fatherhood (whenever that happens).
Anyway, as I said before, I’ve never made a new year’s resolution. Over lunch with Tyler Flowers yesterday he told me that he was resolving to be more selfless. I wanted to steal that one but I didn’t. So, as we make our way into the next year, my first resolution is to identify at least three things I can work on over the next year. I’m giving myself 48 hours to figure those out. Feel free to give me ideas.
